Radeon HD 2900 PRO 512MB review (HiS)

So this card will have the full 320 stream processing units and as it seems even a 512 bit memory interface just like the XT. AMD binds the 320 stream processors to a 512-bit memory interface with eight channels (8x64-bit obviously)

The graphics core comes clocked 600MHz while the 512MB of GDDR3 comes in at 1600MHz DDR. As comparison; HD 2900 XT has a 750MHz core and a memory speed of 1650MHz DDR. So that's it guru's, this is virtually the only difference; the clocks frequencies.

Even with the lower clocks it's showing nice 3D gaming performance, yet it's priced cheap for a lower high-end segment product.

  • Powered by Radeon HD 2900Pro GPU
  • Superscalar unified shader architecture
  • 320 stream processing units
  • 512-bit 8-channel memory interface
  • Comprehensive DirectX® 10 support
  • Integrated CrossFire™
  • Built-in HDMI and 5.1 surround audio
  • Dynamic geometry acceleration
  • Game physics processing capability

Bundled:

  • VIVO Cable
  • HDTV Output cable
  • DVI to VGA Dongle x 2
  • DVI to HDMI Dongle x 1
  • Crossfire™ Cable x 1

HiS Radeon HD 2900 Pro

The MSRP is 249 USD, but folks, you'll receive a 700 million transistor counting product for that dough. Along these lines the 2900 series offers 64-bit (128-bit FP texture filter) HDR capability, improved HQ anisotropic filtering and even 8192x8192 HR textures.

Much like the XT, CrossFire support is natively supported by the AMD ATI Radeon HD 2900-series; the external CrossFire dongle is a thing of the past, wahoo!

New to the ATI Radeon HD 2900-series are integrated HDMI output capabilities with 5.1 surround sound. Let's take a look at the product, bundle and then go a little more in-depth feature by feature, shall we?
