QNAP TS-439 Series Turbo NAS unboxing

On the next few pages we'll show you some photos. The images were taken at high-resolution and then cropped and scaled down. The camera used was a Canon 450D 12 MegaPixel.

Right then, let's start off with packaging and bundled items. Packaging is great, very clear, lot's of photos and specifications. You'll immediately know what you are getting yourself in to. Inside the box we see that it is protected from shock damage with the help of  thick cell foam. Included in the package is everything you need to get started. QNAP even includes two Cat 5e cable just in case you don’t already have one.

Included documentation is thorough. A you get a full manual, quick start guide and software CD filled with everything needed. Of course I'd recommend you to get the latest software updated from the QNAP website.

Here we have the TS-439. This is one of the most recently released designs and as you can see the aesthetics are very pleasing. it's good looking device. The TS-439 come with four hot swappable drive bays. On top you'll have a little LCD screen with menu, allowing you to do some setup and monitoring.  To the left a USB port for instant copies and backups, and the power on/off switch.

The backside is fairly more interesting as we find the two gigabit Ethernet ports as well as four USB ports for attaching additional storage products or printers. You could assign your web server to a dedicated IP and your file-serving on the other Ethernet jack, create subnets .. whatever rocks your boat really.  But let's zoom in a little.
