Aside from some technical aspects, I can see where it might get stale after a while and not really demand a 13 dollar a month fee. There really isn't any point to the war that goes on all around you, and this is the key major factor of why people will end up leaving. SOE if you are reading (Which I think I lost them after the monkey cracks), you have to implement GOOD reasons to take over bases with decent rewards. They have a couple in the works and I like what I see, but it couldn't get into this game fast enough. Just do us all a favor and stock up on bananas before you test the patch. Also, this game needs water battles. Not sometime later down the road. Start development RIGHT NOW. I have some great ideas regarding water battles and reasons to fight over water, as well as great concepts on how to make the war have meaning. Lots of people do -- listen to your fanbase on this one. If anything, I have a thread I can point you to on the somethingawful gaming forums where I have seen some DAMN GOOD ideas. If you don't sense the urgency in this, you will once that free month rolls off and you start seeing cancellations.

Believe it or not though, this is all looking at the future and what will need to be done to keep people playing. This is an MMO after all. Presently, I am enjoying myself a ton after I robbed Fort Knox and upgraded my computer to run it. But I need to try and remain a bit objective and step out of the fun I am having to find the faults and long range problems. In 1-2 months, the only thing that will keep me playing is if the people I enjoy the game with are still there -- or they end up giving base taking and the war, a point. Otherwise, I can get some of the same mindless fragging in a game over the net that doesn't charge a fee with those same people. Granted without as many players, but without a lot of lag either. And considering enemy territory was a free download, objective team based gameplay seems more worthwhile even in that universe. In conclusion, if you are able to set aside some technical aspects and deal with SOE's QA problems over a long period of time, you'll definitely get a couple months out of it. If they manage to stay on top of things (Which aside from the QA aspects they are adding content like they said they would) you have about a 50/50 chance with SOE making the neccessary improvements on the game, with the other 50% meaning they toom your subscription funds and are using them to develop Lords of EverQuest. If you are cautious and would rather not spend 13 bucks a month and take a risk which I do not blame you knowing the company behind the title, you may want to hold off until they add features which may be more to your liking -- such as definite reasons to hold bridges, bases, or lock continents just to name a few. Either way, it's still fun to just frag enemies, and if you play with the right people -- it's a very fun title for at least the first month and will get a lot of milage for $40-50 bucks. I'll update this review a month from now and let you know how everything is progressing.
