Right people, and now something completely different: a power supply.

Years ago PSU's were not that important were they? These days PC's have become so hefty and power consuming that a good PSU is a very important yet underestimated thing. It must meet the requirements of today's gaming rig. And with graphics cards and processors sucking up over 75-110 Watt each the importance factor of the PSU has risen. Next to all that something else, call it a new trend, has appeared over the past few years: case aesthetics. People want beautiful looking PC cases, they modify them in the most wicked ways and just as that car of yours, they like to pimp that rig.

OCZ Technology clearly saw a small gap in the market for that. They figured why not build an awesome looking and high performing power supply unit that fills up that crack in the market? And so they did. Shortly after their second generation PSU was recently released onto the market and oh boy, it's good-looking for sure, it's a little feminine my friends. All jokes aside, the ModStream PSU we are testing today simply looks fantastic, is a heavy duty PSU and let's not forget another factor, is really silent.

The specific model we take a peek at today is the OCZ-520 12U. It's a 520 Watt PSU yet with the reserve to take it even up a notch, this baby can peak at 620 Watt! Now that's what I call a cup-D sized power supply.

Now while writing all this something just hit me, how on earth will we be able to actually stress this beast?! In the upcoming photo shoot you'll be able to see that it does not stop at the PSU itself though. There's a reason why it's called ModStream, with the emphasis to mod. All supplied connectors are nicely wrapped in a blue colored foil/plastic are detachable and that is looking good for sure. Marketing time and word of the day: EZMod. This is the name for it and OCZ calls it an advanced cable management system that facilitates the installation and gives you the option to only use the required cables. So... detachable cables :)

Let's startup the review and have a look at the specifications shall we?
