NZXT Whisper chassis review | test

NZXT Whisper Chassis

With the side panel door removed we stumble into pretty unique designed innards.  The chassis comes with 9 hard drive trays that have vibration dampeners and are compatible with both standard 3.5" hard drives and 2.5" hard drives / SSD. It also comes with a vibration dampener for the PSU.

By the way; have a look at the two main compartments and fan placement, there's a design flaw here. Try to imagine what it is, and I'll get back to you on this topic in a minute or two.

All screws, thumbnails and gadgets are included. Also a rubber mat (grommet) for the PSU, to prevent it from resonating. The included manual is simple, yet easy to understand.

The lower compartment of the chassis houses the PSU (left) and nine hard drives. That's a lot of drives. All nine drive bay trays are removable.

You press the two chrome tabs inward till they release and pull evenly. There are mounting positions for 3.5” drives AND 2.5” laptop (or SSD) drives. You simply screw the HDD secure on the rubber struts, slide it back in .. and it's secure. Pretty handy and effective. The material used is really thin metal, it bends quickly. Something more sturdy would have been preferred, it feels a little flimsy.
