 NVISION 08 Day 1 - Keynotes, Modding and Tricia Helfer

The developper from Nurien was present as well. Some might say, it's just another way to look at pretty rendered women. The developer says this software will be a social network kind of game (like Second life) where you can dress yourself up, and you can actually check your clothing while moving around (PhysX accelerated). This demo is impressive for sure as you can design your own avatar.

The engine is actually UT3 based, which explains the easy adoption of PhysX, and the developer immediately took advantage of it. At a recent editors day at NVIDIA the crowd went wild when they saw this demo. Whether that has to do with the impressive graphics or the fact that I think the girls boobs are actually PhysX enhanced (they bounce according to Einstein's law of gravity) doesn't matter. It's just impressive to see. When you try out this demo, observe the clothing simulation, curtains, hair and in the background the smoke particles.

Special guests during Mr. Huang's presentation included Jeff Han from Perceptive Pixel, the guru of multi-touch display technology and quite frankly one of the most impressive demo's I've ever seen in my life.

Jeff Han’s intuitive "interface-free" computer displays controlled by the touch of fingertips will change forever the way you think about computers. He demonstrated his prototype television. The demo included a virtual lightbox, where he moved photos by fingertip -- as if they were paper on a desk -- flicking them across the screen and zooming in and out by pinching two fingers together, as well as a Google Earth-like map that he tilted and flew over with simple moves. To understand how big his innovation really is: Han was named to Time Magazine's 2008 listing of the 100 Most Influential People in The World.
