Today my friends we are going to take a quick peek at NVIDIA's latest low-entry (budget) card the GeForce 6200 TC. From top to bottom in the market there's a card that'll match any budget. Today's product is no different. Right now you can buy these little puppies for roughly 60-70 EUR, which still makes me question if that can be called low-budget, but I'll rant about that in my conclusion.

It's been a while since NVIDIA introduced the standard 6200 series. So why release this new TC versions then? Simply, to control costs as the standard 6200 was too expensive for a low budget product.

First let's have a look at the product we'll test today. Supplied to us by NVIDIA and manufactured by Palit, this is the GeForce 6200 TC 64MB, a card that actually supports and behaves as a 256 MB model. How does that work you say? Simple, the card actually uses a stash of your hard paid for system memory as framebuffer.

TurboCache (TC) - A lovely marketing word, but what is it exactly? Let's have a look at the dictionary:

turbo
Tur"bo, n. [L. turbo, -inis, a top. See Turbine.] (Zo["o]l.) Any one of numerous marine gastropods of the genus Turbo or family Turbinid[ae], usually having a turbinate shell, pearly on the inside, and a calcareous operculum.

cache
n 1: a hidden storage space (for money or provisions or weapons) 2: a secret store of valuables or money [syn: hoard, stash] 3: (computer science) RAM memory that is set aside as a specialized buffer storage that is continually updated; used to optimize data transfers between system elements with different characteristics [syn: memory cache] v : save up as for future use [syn: hoard, stash, lay away, hive up, squirrel away]

You gotta love marketing :) Today's product review will be a product from the well respected manufacturer Palit. A company that isn't really out there alarming users with aggressive marketing campaigns. No, this is a relatively quiet company with a keen insight on hardware and the reputation to deliver quality products.

As you have been able to witness there's quite a few Series 6 models product from NVIDIA to choose from, actually so many that it's confusing.
