 Need for Speed Most Wanted

By: Jason Maitland | Edited by  | Published: December 30, 2005

The online game is focused strictly on racing but is does offer circuit, sprint, and drag races for up to four players, and it keeps an online version of the Blacklist going so you can see who the most dangerous online opponent is.

The NFS: MW has excellent graphics and the sound is unreal (gotta love 5:1 setups). You can actually hear the difference in engine noises depending on the car you have and the type of upgrades installed. Undoubtedly, the greatest part is that of the conversions you hear on the police band. Everything is expertly done and the game music keeps you awake an in the need for speed.

The Verdict

Final Thoughts.   NFS: MW is arguably the best of the NFS series and it has the right mixture of racing and modifications options. The cut scenes are excellent, the game play is excellent and the choice of cars is wide. I was disappointed that there was no skyline, but say what…life is full of disappointment. The physics and AI is good especially from the higher level of cops interaction and the use of speed and pursuit breakers adds a very nice touch. The story line is as good as you can expect from a car racing game with the usually ‘surprising’ twist (no big surprise). The end of the game is wonderfully done, but pay attention to the map so you know where you need to go. I won’t tell. One finally hint. Before you race Razor it maybe worth while to disable automatic saves so you can save manually. The reason for this is once you beat him, you will not be able to enjoy the last moments again unless you had a manual save. Some of the tracks seem slightly familiar if you have been playing NFS over the years and there is a Rocky Pass !!

NFS: MW is definitely a game you will want to own and it is highly addictive. I would rate it as a 9.5 / 10 but it is easily one of the best games of 2005.
