Intel X58 Extreme DX58SO motherboard review

Intel X58 Extreme

A lousy photo done with a point and shoot camera, but this is in fact the DX58SO mainboard, where I plugged in 2 SATA cables. As you can see, we can not install the graphics card anymore.

Should you run into this problem, there is one solution at hand. In the stores you can purchase SATA connectors that have a 90 degree bend at the connector, that's the only way to bypass this issue.

Seriously .. Intel. Do you see that speaker right there, that one should have been under the graphics card and the two SATA connectors at the speaker locations. It boggles my mind how nobody at Intel thought of this .... really.

When we move to the right side of the mainboard we stumble into all kinds of extra connectivity in the form of audio panel, USB and front panel headers. Above the jumper you can also see a small micro-switch to power on/off the mainboards, which is a nice detail.

And then the last photo before we show you a benchmark test run of this particular platform.  As you can see two x16 PCI slots, one traditional PCI slot, two PCIe x1 slots and one PCIe x4 slot.
