Inno3D GeForce 7900 GS iChill review

Inno3D GeForce 7900 GS iChill review

Inno3D GeForce 7900 GS i-Chill edition

GeForce 7900 GS 256MB DDR3 with pre-clock and AC cooler
Company: Inno3D

It was merely a month or nine ago when we reviewed an Inno3D graphics card in the GeForce series 7 range. Back then my conclusion ended saying that it's an okay product, yet everything is reference, too standard and with a way too loud fan to top it off. Manufacturers need to differentiate their product to make them stand out from the rest. It seems that Inno3D has been listening to the consumer end of the market thoug as merely three months ago they released a 7950 GT with a Zalman cooler and are now going down a different road with their products.

Hey everybody, today we'll take a look at a GeForce 7900 GS, the iChill version. I'll spoil the beans immediately. To date this is the best GeForce 7900 GS we have had in our labs... ever !

InnoVision is a Hong Kong based manufacturer that produces a number of multimedia products aimed at both the OEM and retail market.

The product range is very diverse and bigger than you'd expect. From VGA cards (obviously) to audio cards to digital video products. Inno3D offers GeForce based graphics cards from low to high-end and in today's review we'll be testing a higher positioned mid-range product, their GeForce 7900 GS (PCI-Express). Armed with an exceptionally playable graphics core and equipped with 256 Megabyte of GDDR3 memory, this product is ready to bark loudly in your PC. Why am I using such unusual wording ? Because everything about this card is a little different, and in this case, even much better.

Inno3D ladies and gents, they have been around for a long time now and are slowly progressing to become a bigger player in that huge graphics card arena. How do they achieve that? By diverting from standard reference based graphics cards a little and delivering, much like many manufacturers do these days, pre-overclocked products.

With that in mind Inno3D has released the iChill series of products. A two-fold cooled series, one with Zalman cooling the other with Arctic Cooling products cooling the cards. That's what we'll be focusing on today. it's not "just" about that cooler though, there will be plenty of other stuff to look at when we review this card, much higher clock frequencies, gold plated connectors, high overclockability, low noise cooling. It's really impressive. With that being said, let's startup this review. Yes you better prepare yourself for the entire Guru3D she-bang.
