 Inno3D GeForce 6800 128 Mb review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by  | Published: August 31, 2004

Conclusion
The last time we reviewed an Inno3D product I stated I was impressed, this time (and I know it sounds boring) I must say that I am impressed.

Again the card performed as expected from A to Z, great PCB build, nice black color, a spicy software package and overclocking wise the card showed really nice things considering its classic reference cooling design. A slight tip if you are interested in this product, in the stores you might also find this product under the Tornado brand name. Furthermore excellent gaming performance is what you can expect from the Inno3D GeForce 6800, dual monitor candy, really great movie/media playback and crystal clear 2D and 3D image display. Stability and performance of this product is really good, it did not once crash or showed weird behavior during our tests.

Hey, do you know who this card is perfect for? The enthusiast user with an LCD screen that doesn't go beyond 1024x768 or 1280x1024, yet want all eye-candy enabled because you can and won't have to take less for an answer.

When we divert a bit from the technical side of the product and look at it in a more generic way I must state that InnoVision absolutely offers a very nice package here. The 12 pipe 6800 offers an extremely lot of joy for your bucks. It includes a nice software package and is really nice product. It however is 100% reference based which doesn't make it stand out of the competition, except for the cool black PCB that is. But hey, it's also a bit cheaper then the competition.

Despite as many of you say, the "Eehw it only has 12 pixel pipes" factor, the standard GeForce 6800 offers an exceptional gaming experience and it should since it is still in that high-end class, but for a far better price. You can play any game to date at a previously unseen performance level for a cost that seems justified for this product. That includes titles as Far Cry and Doom 3; Half-life 2 should have no problems at all with this card also. The heart of the beast has been fitted with a 222 Million transistor GPU doing 325 MHz, which can even be clocked higher. There's really no justification to buy a GeForce 59xx series graphics card anymore if you can chip in a few bucks more for this one. Performance at all levels went up big-time, the card is a joy to play games with.

The manufacturer suggested retail price for this product is 299 USD, that means you'll likely can get it cheaper in e-tail my friends. This is definitely a great graphics card and we can recommend it highly.

Availability is now, and it is already for sale in Europe.
