 Ikonik Ra X10 Liquid review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn | Edited by John A. Johnsen | Published: March 2, 2009

The RA X10 series is next to being a efficient and aesthetically pleasing chassis, also very hip in terms of innovation. See, the X10 series has what Ikonik calls a SIM module. The "SIM" version offers the System Intelligent Management PCB and functionality along with a full compliment of case fans. I didn't realize back then that they also fitted this chassis with liquid cooling pre-installed. And that makes it even more interesting. That largest version being called "LIQUID" offers a pre-installed water cooling, and in combo with the SIM module you can regulate fans and pumps and monitor temperatures within Windows itself.

Radical as it is, the Ra X10 features an amazing 13 fans and if that's not enough cooling, you can also get the Ra X10 LIQUID which features a liquid cooling kit. The chassis measures 220mm x 572mm x 606mm (W x H x D) and features six 5.25" drive bays (incl. converter kit for 3.5" external devices), ten 3.5" drive bays and eight PCI expansion slots.

Inside the case are dual 120mm front fans, one 140mm rear fan, 80mm rear bottom fan and a two 80mm quad side fan sets.

Hopefully these fans aren't too loud but the specifications indicate IKONIK thought about noise as the HDD bays and PSU railing have rubber strips to reduce vibration noise. The Ra X10 has tool-free features for the HDDs and optical drives and features washable dust filters. The top I/O panel has two e-SATA ports, four USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE 1394 port and audio & mic ports.

The Ikonik Ra X10 is available in two colors: black or silver. We received the black edition, the LIQUID version, so we will cool down our processor with the help of water today. With a RA for Radical.
