 Ikonik Ra X10 Liquid review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by John A. Johnsen | Published: March 2, 2009

System Intelligent Management (SIM).

One of the more interesting features of two out of three of the Ra-X10 models are the SIM models. Both the Ra-X10 SIM and Liquid have some additional core logic embedded into the system. To this module you can connect (supplied) thermal sensors to monitor key devices in your PC, but next to that, the SIM module functions as a programmed fan controller.

Each segment / compartment of the PC can be controlled. Take the upper or lower fans that cover the radiator, these can be controlled individually. Thus fan units can be set at a low noise or high performance mode. Let me show you.

Here you can see a screenshot of the software. Each F (F1, F2, F3 etc) represents a segment within the chassis. Here we have selected F4 - which as the screenshot shows, control the fans of the lower radiator. Depending on a temperature delta the fans will react to is.

Not only that but per segment (now we selected F3 - upper radiator fans) we can assign a performance mode, as in high performance, a silent mode, fans deactivated and so on.

This way you can determine how much airflow you have going on inside that PC. And with 13 fans ... you can create a little storm in there alright.

We put the silent and performance modes to the test and had a peek as to what kind effect it had on our test configuration.
