The photo guided review

On the next few pages we'll show you some photos. The images were taken at 2560x1920 pixels and then scaled down. The camera used was a Sony DCS-F707 5.1 MegaPixel.

After unpacking this is the Hiper HMC-2K53A-A3 barebone kit as supplied. Aesthetically a pleasing product. And relatively easy to install.

Let's go through the bundle. Obviously you'll receive a fair share of mainboard manual and driver CDs, though a decent written manual for the barebone kit itself is lacking. Above the little IDE bracket is in fact a IDE adapter for slimline DVD drives should you want to insert one.

Included with this A3 model also are breakout cables let you 7.1 channel audio on your hi-fi system, a very nice supplement. Though, even better, there is a digital SP/DIF output as well. Included some batteries for the remote control, and also for the remote control a secondary IR receiver unit. I say secondary as the chassis itself has a receiver built in as well.

The bundled remote control should be compatible with Windows XP, MCE and Vista. Though the instructions only mention Vista compatibility. The design and feel of the remote is really good and working really well with Vista's Media Center.
