 Heatpipe CPU cooler roundup review

OCZ Vendetta 2

OCZ recently released their revision 2 of the Vendetta cooler which was designed and developed by Xigmatek in combination with a low-noise fan (well sort of). We'll dive into a small photo-shoot right now and show you all there is to show about the Vendetta as there's some pretty clever stuff incorporated onto the cooler. Last year the Vendetta one of the best coolers at a very fair price.

The cooler again supports Sockets AMD 754/755/939/AM2+, Intel LGA775. What you'll absolutely love about the Vendetta 2 is that it is effective and silent at the same time. next to that, OCZ's pricing remain pretty competitive.

The items are carefully packaged in foam protection. In this review you'll notice that the Vendetta 2 has great looks and surprisingly does not come with these weird wire clips that you normally need to hold the fan on,

OCZ's Vendetta is compatible with AMD AM2/939/754/755 and Intel 775 sockets and can be installed pretty fast and easy by end-users even if you have two left hands. The big advantage is that you do not need to remove the mainboard, which is a huge positive, you clip it on the mainboard just as easy as the traditional stick Intel cooler with retention clips, though these can be annoying from time to time if they do not 'click in' properly. The cooler itself doesn't seem to have changed much from the old design, the cool V pattern is still in there as well as the three heatpipes. it's an aesthetically pleasing product.

Vendetta comes with everything you need to mount the cooler on AMD AM2/939/754/755 and Intel 775 sockets at an amazing price hovering at roughly 30 EUR which is a grand price for this kind of performance.

Installation
OCZ does make sure the installation goes well, a kid can install it easily. The big advantage here is that you do not have to remove the mainboard. For Socket 775 you screw secure two retention clip to to cooling block, and then click the cooler secure. A little more difficult is fan installation. There are four rubber mounts that are pretty hard to place. The advantage of these rubber mounts is that they have a positive side-effect, preventing resonation from the fan. But the installation is fairly easy. Definitely a positive.

Just like the first model, we can again see the heatpipes run through an aluminum block. It's a slightly more cheap thing to do in the fabrication process. Less copper is used, making the product cheaper. Yet it still cools great though.

The V pattern and OCZ stamped into the upper aluminum fin. It's also a nice looking product.

Here we can see the product in action. The Fan is secured with rubber stands. Which are slightly annoying to install though.
