Guru3D Rig of the Month - November 2009

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by Ed | Published: November 27, 2009

7. Why ATI or NVIDIA, why Intel/AMD?

I chose NVIDIA for two reasons. PhysX support is unbelievable. Having the eye candy past the max w/ PhysX is a phenomenal experience. Reason two is because EVGA's customer support is the best I've experienced in years. I chose Intel because of their ability to Overclock and every rig I've had since I was growing up were by Intel, so why no keep them?

8. Does your PC life up to your expectations ?

It lived past it. I originally had this set for doing mainstream gaming... not mainstream overkill. Lol.

9. What's the best part of your rig?

The cable sleeving I think. Adds a very nice touch to everything.

10. What sucks and should not have been bought?

Nothing sucks really. I put every ounce of effort to making this rig all it could be and more.

11. Did you modify anything ?  cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.

Other than the sleeving I picked up a couple of Cooler Master fans I saw on sale. Very silent running max and made the Antec case look a little unique. Also the cable management was a pure nightmare to make everything look decent. Extensions upon extensions made it VERY hard to put that other side panel on... very.

12. Your 3DMark06 / 3DMark Vantage score (P+GPU)

Don't have 3DMark 06 but my Vantage went from P21,739 to P28,087 when adding a third GTX 260... in a PCIe 4x 2.0 slot!

13. Do you have any Future updates planned ?
I plan on picking up the GTX 300's at launch and picking up some blue LED Crucial Ballistic Tracers to add to the whole light show.
