Rig of the Month April 2009

Each month here at Guru3D.com we feature one of you guys, your PC, your DIY project. It is quite honestly amazing how much detail and dedication you put into an PC, and every now and then it really shows.

They say style is personal, and well that's just the case of the Rig of The Month April 2009, though I doubt you could even dislike a build like shown today. Meet Buzair, Buzair is a Student at the age of 24.

Buzair has been a Guru3D aficionado for a while now after he stumbled into our site, and like many .. got attached to us. He shares our passion of building nice PCs. Buzair's PC will be the Rig of the Month April 2009 for reasons that I do not even need to explain really. Go have a read and then check out the lovely clean innards and wiring job he managed to pull off.

You surely have to appreciate prettiness like that.

1. What is your name / nickname /age / occupation

Buzair Marri / Marri / 24 / Student

3. What do you mainly use the system for?

Asides using it for music and browsing the web..
It's my HTPC , Gaming PC and Editing PC

4. How much money did you spend on the rig as it is right now?

Well this ones difficult to answer , I normally try forget the amount of cash that goes towards my PC every now and then.

Things sometimes cost me twice , thrice even four times as much here , a 3$ fan sells for 9$ while 10$ fan sell for 30$. Board costs $550 , Processor $310 , PSU $530 , 3xCards $1617 , Ram $284 , CPU Cooler $87 , Veloci Raptor $311 , all my other HDD's 497$ , Speakers $335 , Monitor $957 , Keyboard $248 , Mouse $90 , Casing $250 etc..

Which sets it to above $6066 , since I do not remember how much my secondary Keyboard , accessories , secondary mouse and the UPS were for exactly.

5. How often do you update/buy a new rig?

Well , I had the QX6700 before this with a 780i , Corsair 9136 4GB memory and the 8800GTX's in SLi.
I skipped a lot of things that came after that ,so I'm a slow up grader but I do add things every 4 to 6 months , I normally don't replace anything major within that period.

  • Motherboard - Asus Rampage 2 Extreme
  • Ram - Corsair 3x2GB 1600 C8

  • Monitor - Samsung Series 6 32" LCD TV/Monitor

7. Why ATI or NVIDIA, why Intel/AMD?

NVIDIA because I've had great experience with SLI and I find their single GPU based cards a lot more worthy.
