 GeForce 7600 GS 256Mb gDDR3 with HDMI

The Verdict

Yeah... really. I'm pleasantly surprised by this product. The Galaxy GeForce 7600GS is pretty cheap, offer performance roughly equal to the 7600 GT, comes with HDCP crypto chip for proper playback of protected HD content, has the HDMI connector... hey it even includes the HDMI cable. Also make note of the complete bundle. You'll get everything to get you started (no free games included though). All that for 110 EUR is really impressive.

I mean sure... this is not the frag-meisters card to play games with... but any recent title can be played with acceptable framerates at pretty normal resolutions thanks to the faster graphics core and memory clocks. So in terms of functionality this card offers versatility and can give enough punch to play games. Quite honestly there's absolutely nothing really negative to report on the Galaxy card. Other then that NVIDIA will release it's mid-range DirectX 10 compatible cards this month.

So we have everything complete to setup a pretty interesting PC for not a lot of money. Golden is the fact that HDMI worked straight out of the box. As stated in the article; I am used running into troubles connecting DVI to HDMI and have always found this to be a tricky thing to do. The fact that we had signal on the HD screen from the second we booted up the PC states that this product is working well. Setup was easy with the Samsung HD screen and everything works pretty much straight out of the box. This is a great and cheap HTPC graphics card.

So let me not make this conclusion any longer than needed .. when a product is good it's good. This product isn't .. as it's great, versatile and very affordable.

Kudo's to Galaxy, for a nice job done; I wish their product would be available broader in the European and USA distribution channel. As that's their biggest problem at the moment.
