Hee ho-ho-ho-ho! Welcome to yet another Guru3D Silly Season Christmas week article, and boy does Santa have a gift for you ! Today we'll be looking at the mid-range GeForce 7900 GS 256Mb from Galaxy. Now this sub-200 EUR graphics card is, let's be honest here, quite affordable and offers a stackload of features.

But this time around I'd really like to recommend this card to you as not only is the card really affordable but it comes at default pre-overclocked (a massive overclock) and with a silent Zalman cooler. I must say that I'm rather impressed with what Galaxy is doing lately.

As you know we recently reviewed their really impressive Dual-GPU based 7900 GT from the master Piece edition. Unfortunately that product was brought to the market somewhat late yet none-the less a very inventive product.

Over the years we have reviewed a lot of products for Galaxy technology. Fact is this: Galaxy is a relatively small company, and for a company to get known and grow you sometimes need to take drastic measures compared to other competitors to show that you are out there. What Galaxy usually does is offer GeForce graphics cards based on another PCB color and lately they're also using Zalman fans. They also came up with dual-bios technology (SmartFlash) and added stuff onto the videocards like little buzzers that will go off once your fan fails or the GPU is overheating. Not only that but usually Galaxy's products at default are clocked faster or simply have good overclocking potential. Their biggest problem though is not their products but their distribution. A Galaxy product is hard to find and get hold of.

Generally speaking, it's small features like mentioned above that separates the players in the large graphics arena from each other. Today's product is exactly that. At defaults 7900 GS card is clocked at 450 MHz... this one 550 ! The default memory on a GS is 1320 MHz, this Galaxy GeForce 7900 GS is clocked at 1500 MHz. All in all the recipe to get some serious bang for your bucks. Let's move on towards the next page where we'll discuss the standard technology features, talk about the bundle, the cooler, heat, power consumption, photo-shoot, benchmarks, overclocks and finally the verdict. Yes, you better prepare yourself for the entire Guru3D she-bang.
