Galaxy 6600 GT AGP 128MB review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by  | Published: December 16, 2004

Bundled Items
In the box, we see a reasonable bundle. This is basically the Galaxy standard bundle. It comes with CD's for Cyberlink PowerDVD, Chaser and MotoGP 2. These are all full versions. Next to the manual we can find a S-Video & S-Video to Composite output cable and also your DVI to CRT/VGA adapter, so that you are able to hook up 2 CRT VGA (analog) monitors to your card. Furthermore there is a driver CD with ForceWare drivers and an overclocking tool, which does nothing more then enable coolbits and unlocks hidden ForceWare driver features. What I like best is an included component (HDTV) output block. it also has Composite and SVideo out.

The card itself is reference based, except for the nice blue colored PCB that is. What I really like is that cooling solution, very effective and very silent! A nice and shiny copper heatsink with an active fan. Memory comes from Samsung and is GDDR3 memory rated 1.6ns in a Ball grid Array package. 1.6ns : 1000... hey'all that would mean a (2x)625 MHz possible at default memory frequency.

Power Supply demand
NVIDIA recommends a standard 300 Watt Power Supply for the 6600 series, so basically anyone has that at minimum in their system these days.

Architecture Characteristics of the GeForce 6 Series

Let's talk and compare a little. The GeForce 6600 series was manufactured at 0.11µ where I expected it to be 0.13µ!
