Freezer Xtreme Arctic Cooler CPU cooler review

Artic Cooler -- Freezer Xtreme

A major advantage of the cooler is that it does not need a mainboard back plate. So you do not have to remove the motherboard at all. The black retention bracket is placed onto the motherboard and then secured with push pins. Let me show you that.

So here we mounted the black retention clip onto the mainboard, insert a white retention pin, and then a black pin which keeps everything secure. The next step is mounting the actual cooler.

Unfortunately that is a much less thrilling experience. You need to secure the cooler onto the black retention clip with two screws. These screws are mounted inside the cooler. So, first you remove the ventilator and then with a magnetic Philips screwdriver you need to screw them in. It's a pretty annoying process to be honest as there is very little clearance to work with. Remember, a long magnetic Philips screwdriver is required here.
