 Force3D Radeon HD 4870 512MB DHT review

Force3D Radeon HD 4870 DHT

Two dual-link DVI connectors. This way you can drive two high-resolution monitors up to 2560x1600 per monitor. Force3D also included a HDMI adapter. You connect it to one of the DVI connectors and then use a HDMI cable to your monitor or HDTV. The advantage here is that this ATI card will pass along 7.1 channel or two channel PCM based sound through the cable.

The base of the cooler seems to be aluminium, leading to the back are three heat pipes transferring the heat towards the cooling fins located at the top of the cooler.

You need to connect two 6-pin power connectors to the card for it to be able to take in enough current. The card has a TDP (peak wattage) of 160 Watts. Your mainboard supplies 75 through the PCIe bus, then each 6-pin connector can add another 75 Watts. If you do the math then indeed, one 6-pin connector with the PCIe bus would sum up towards 150 Watts, 10 Watts short of the maximum TDP.

This is why it sports that second power connector.

One last photo, admittedly, it does look good. Unfortunately that fan is rather noisy.
