 EZ PowerSupply Tester 2

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn | Edited by  | Published: September 8, 2005

Right then, let's get started and prep a PSU. First thing to do is check if the device is undamaged, it is. Packed in a small carton we find the anodized blue tester. Both the package and the device itself have written instructions on it. It will tell you the steps and what to look at. Basically connect your PSU to current, hook up the 20/24-pin mainboard connector and if the PSU works (the tester will enable the PSU as it's hotwiring pin 13/14 (green/black)) you'll hear a beep plus the mainboard LEDs will activate.

On the right side of the device is the 24-pin connector, older power supplies have 20-pins and will work fine also of course.

On the left side of the tester is now the 4 and even newer 8-pin P4 connector which use the 12 volts rail to your mainboard.

Also we find a a 6-pin power connector used by graphics cards which supplies 12 volts and we see the floppy disk connector.

The  6-pin power connector used by graphics cards is working. And yes 12 volts is all that high-end graphics cards pull.
