 eVGA x58 SLI Classified review

A macro adventure with the eVGA X58 3x SLI Classified

On the next few pages we'll show you some photos. The images were taken at a high resolution and then cropped and scaled down. The camera used was a Canon 450D 12 MegaPixel.

Right, let's start off with unboxing the product. First off a boxshot. The motherboard and other components are well packaged inside. Our package traveled from the US to the EU and did not have a scratch on it. Classy and stylish designed box.

Once you open up the box you'll notice that eVGA did not save on cables or anything ... well at this price level that can't be expected anyways. Check it out. Heaps of cables and even SATA power cables. A Certification (um yeah well ... piece of paper). The product comes with a very well written manual and quick install guide, driver CD, the EPC unit and several SLI connectors. Let's have a closer look.

Here you can see the EPC unit. It'll be your choice whether or not to use it; it's definitely not mandatory. In the future it might perhaps be an idea for eVGA to create some sort of 3.5" or 5.25" drive bay or something where you could physically fix the unit. It's a bit impractical to position really, Anyway, it's handy though ...  it offers functions like power, reset, CMOS clear, a hex diagnostic POST code LED display, on-the-fly VCore adjustment for overclocking, and PCI-E disable jumpers. Um yeah, for the uber hardcore tweakers who like to alter thing on the fly ... a small wet dream. To others, it might end up uninstalled.

You'll receive no less than 3 SLI connectors with the motherboard. Every possible configuration has been though off. The extremely long one is to be used if you have the 3rd PCIe slot occupied with a graphics card dedicated to PhysX.
