Now forgive us for the quality of the photos, they are not shot here in the Guru3D photo studio but at home at the premises of Beaux, our overclocker who has limited light and camera quality. Still, you'll hopefully agree with me this will be sufficient.

The massive box carries the SR-2 well packaged, and sure... you feel like you have something really special there (which of course it is).

HUGE - is the first thing that come to mind. The motherboard uses a substandard HPTX form factor that measures 15" x 13.6". EVGA warns the motherboard will only fit in wide ATX cases with 9 or more expansion slots, and that it is possible that modifications may be required for a correct fit in the chassis.

Intended for pro-overclockers you'll spot that you will still get plenty of extra candy in terms of connectivity. Eight USB ports of which two are USB 3.0, PS/2, EVBot connector, a clear CMOS button, the gigabit Ethernet jacks and 7.1 analog audio. Lacking are TOSLINKs (digital audio connectors) but we assume you won't be using this motherboard in an HTPC anyway ;)

So how do you need to look at the SR-2? Well, you take the sweet X58 Classified 4-way SLI motherboard and double everything up. Each of the two CPU sockets has its own 8-pin EPS12V and 6-pin PCI-E connection. With a massive hardware setup and when using multiple GPUs, multiple power supplies will be a requirement for the sheer number of power connectors alone.

See the big cooling fan there? Underneath it sits the Intel 5520 chipset, the Intel ICH10R Southbridge and two NVIDIA NF200 switch IC PCI-E controllers. So all four ICs are located under one cooling solution, that by the way is not at all noisy.
