 ECS P55H-AK review

ECS P55H-AK

Over the past few years we've been working with ECS for numerous times. This company has a huge, seriously huge OEM history manufacturing for big names like Dell. A couple of years ago however they entered the retail market, with mild success. ECS is haunted and fighting off that OEM stigma that was created by producing low-level 'cheap' hardware. In the early stages of the retail segment some poor decisions where made and the product simply could not match the quality and diversity the competition offered.

Slowly but steadily the company is changing, once they released the Black Series product the overall quality and feature set of ECS motherboard started evolve in a very good fashion. Their Black Series motherboards are targeting a more mainstream market, and offers motherboards with a bit more niche and features. With each product released ECS looked closely at the reviews, analyzed the comments and asked feedback. It's what I personally like about this company, as some features from the product today are based on comments we made in previous reviews.

In the enthusiast, or pro-user, segment however the Black series however never had a real chance as companies like Gigabyte, MSI and ASUS have far more revenue available for advanced R&D and product managers. Until today that is, we finally get to review the all new P55H-AK motherboard.

It is with the release of this P55H-AK motherboard that ECS finally reaches a state in product development where they can address the enthusiast consumer market. A board loaded with features, great looks and quite decent overclockability. A motherboard where ECS went excessive on everything, dual GIGe Ethernet NICs, not one but two USB 3.0 controllers for 4 ports, integration of a SATA 3 (6G) controller, and even a NVIDIA NF200 bridge chip to enable three-way SLI.

All in all a terrific P55 motherboard with excellent features and just really hot looks. Have a peek, and then head on over to the next page please.
