ECS Atom 330 Dual Core P945GC review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by Joshua Finger | Published: September 19, 2008

Installation

Installing this little mainboard is really easy. With two logical CPUs we figured we would be a little gutsy and opted to go for Windows Vista, just to see if it would be capable of handling such a complicated OS. And guys, it works perfectly fine. We inserted a slice of 533 MHz DDR2 memory, attached an OCZ Core 64 GB SSD drive ... and booted into Windows Vista .. it's as easy as that.

All unidentified components will be installed by Vista automatically. We did not even need to insert the included driver CD. Literally from powering to one reboot took us 3 maybe four minutes and the system was ready to be used.

The one thing that you'll find interesting is the apparent display of four cores, make no mistake ... there are two physical cores which both are hyper threaded making four logical processors/threads. Anyway, let's fire up some benchmarks.  Really just a few .. as this is a NET PC and performance is obviously nowhere near a regular desktop PC. So please don't judge this book by it's cover in that way.  Okay ?
