Eagle Consus I-Series SATA to USB review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn | Edited by Dave | Published: September 5, 2008

Today we'll quickly peek at their Eagle Consus I-series storage device. Pretty much you can stuff two HDs into the unit, connect it through USB and can even fire off JBOD at the two HDDs (we'll explain later). The device just looks stunning and even comes with a one-button backup mode. The price is 39 USD, that's not even 25 EUR.

*sighs*

Yeah, at that price we must review this unit. Let's have a look at some of it's features.

Eagle I-Series

  • Application: Dual Drive Internal 3.5" SATA300 HDD up to 2TB max
  • Interface: USB 2.0
  • Dimensions: 3.2" x 8.5" x 5"
  • Power: External Power Adapter
  • Hot Swappable
  • 1-button Backup with FNet Backup Software
  • Construction: Aluminum / Plastic Bezel
  • Colors: Black with interchangeable Orange / Silver Bezel

As stated already, this unit can manage JBOD which is short for "Just a Bunch Of Disks." Now you can span these disks to combine your odd sized disk drives into one larger drive. So if you have a 250 GB drive and a 750 GB drive, you can merge them together into one big partition.

Well, there's only so much one can say about external storage. Let's have an actual look.

The package comes with the USB cable, manual, driver disk, two bags of screws for mounting the hard drive, US power cable, and power adapter (230v compatible)...

For a 45 USD product quite a nice styling design there. Since Orange is a Dutch theme color, I like it. Should you not... a grey bezel you can swap out is delivered along as well. The big round shim is a LED which glows blue when the HD is idle, red when writing.
