The Corsair V128 is a really nice product. In fact in several scenarios it can compete with the Corsair X128 128GB priced currently at 380 EUR, this Corsair V128 128GB will cost you just over 300 EUR.

The usage of the new ECO barefoot controller with 34nm flash memory makes the Nova series a very high-performing product that seems to be a little more affordable.

The performance is as advertised with read speeds up-to roughly 260~270 MB/sec in certain conditions and write performance at roughly 190~200 MB/sec, depending on how you measure. It's good to see the new Firmware support TRIM, so if you use Windows 7 that increases performance over a long time-span. Much like OCZ does, a Garbage Cleaning feature is active on the SSD as well, drives with such embedded technology optimize themselves once they are in IDLE, keeping advertised performance at 99% at all times. Great stuff !

But yeah, overall this is a kickass drive and it will be very interesting to see how it will hold ground against the new JMicron JMF612 controller and that other one .. the SandForce based product which seem to be up and coming. What's good about that is the fact that there will be three, four if you include Intel, parties fighting over controllers, and that will drive prices down. You can expect the first SandForce final retail SSD reviews here at Guru3D real soon as this first ones are just coming in.

So what are we looking for in SSD development when it's up to Guru3D ? Well, we feel that garbage control should be implemented on all SSDs, SATA6G (6GBPs) to clear out the SATA2 bandwidth limitation and even faster drives of course, with bigger volume sizes. Yes Sir .. you can expect a lot more SSD innovation in 2010 it's the hottest development in PC technology as we speak.

We don't need to make the conclusion any longer than need, the Nova V128 with its price tag of just over 300 EUR is an enormously competitive product in its category, it's a splendid SSD and we notice them in good availability at this very moment already.
