Cooler Master LAB test bench v1.0 review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by Joshua Finger | Published: October 26, 2009

The verdict

We received the LAB Test Bench v1.0 from Cooler Master after my interest spiked and yeah, we have been using it since day one. There's only one word to describe the LAB Test Bench, "handy". Not perfect, it's just very handy.

Of course we also understand that this product is intended for a very limited audience. But if you are swapping and testing a lot components, then you understand perfectly why Guru3D wanted to review this little unit.

The LAB Test Bench is not just for employees in the tech industry; I foresee that it's handy for a group of overclockers as well. Imagine using it on an OC contest where you need the motherboard level to apply that LN2. If you kill the motherboard, take it off, pop on a new one and within a minute you are back up and running again.

Pricing then, the LAB Test Bench has a minor disadvantage. It's not cheap for what it is. Expect a 90 USD sales price or roughly 75 EUR here in the EU. However I do not find it expensive either.  It will be worth every penny, as I find it just so practical. Sure, it's not exactly cheap for what it is, but keep in mind that Cooler Master is making these units in very small quantities and as such this makes it a rather exclusive product. As such you'll also need to order it through Cooler Master's own shop, as there's no re-/e-tail distribution through on-line shops - see here under SKU code CL-001-KKN1-GP.

So then, the bottom line, -- as simple as this product is, we really like it. And rest assured we'll be using it with pretty much any future motherboard review. It's not a suitable product for everybody, but if it applies to you we can wholeheartedly recommend it.
