Computex 2008: Day 4 - Closer to the end

Guru3D - Computex 2008

We are back to OCZ here, remember I mentioned the Alchemy series of products? Well there were two more keyboards shown.

And here a more stylish media kind of keyboard, OCZ Alchemy .. remember that folks.

Last OCZ item, this is their DIY (Do It Yourself) notebook. Pretty much you buy this barebone and then insert the components you like to build your own specced laptop. I was able to snag a photo of the unit opened up, and that's what it looks like. The kit comes with a very detailed and photo guided manual. Pretty interesting actually.

I also dropped by the good folks from M-Tron. They are the leaders in Solid State Drive technology. I have been chatting with some of the marketing guys and for consumer and server level products we can already get the products at 120 to 200 MB/sec write/read products. Prices are still too high though. M-tron thinks that overall prices will drop 30% this year. I dunno what you think but, that's a lot in this industry.

Guru3D - Computex 2008

Last but not least for part four of the Guru3D Computex reports. Here's the new model Acer Predator series chassis. The Aspire PREDATOR incorporates the Intel Core 2 Extreme quad-core processor with 1333MHz FSB that can be tuned, along with RAM and graphic cards, using nTune utility. In addition, the NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI MCP, 3-way SLI capable motherboard offers 2 x G9600GT, 2 x G9800GTX or even 2 x G9800GX2 (4 x GPU) graphics cards depending on the configuration. Acer presented its new Aspire PREDATOR line of desktop computers to PC gaming enthusiasts. Fans will appreciate the deep metallic copper colored housing: the front of the body can be raised, accompanied by an original optical bay mechanism to reveal a rewritable DVD and Blu-ray Disk reader. The USB and audio ports on top are complemented with a front-mounted multi-card reader. Blue rays of light emanate from the power button and front hard-drive door.

You gotta admit that's a kickass chassis.

Okay, that rounds up part four of the Computex 2008 report. Over the weekend we'll post the last installment plus we might update the previously posted articles with a bit more info we gathered over the days. The 5th and latest installment will not be hardware relegated though. Nope that would be the babes of Computex. Is there a better way to conclude our articles other than with Taiwan's finest? I think no. And as one of my editor's just wrote me in an email, once you have the yellow fever, it sticks.

Please give the guys from Point-of-View a visit on their website as they are making these Computex 2008 reports happen for us.
