Computex 2008: Day 3 - The man with the hammer

OCZ technology

OCZ was also present in the Hyatt suites and they had a prettive massive line-up to show. I can only show you like 5-6 products, so here we go. I had a brief meeting with our contact from OCZ Netherlands.

First up, PC Power & Cooling PSUs are definitely gaining more ground here in Europe. I still have a unit in queue for a review actually, so more on that later. Above you can see a prototype in development. A 1200 Watt PSU, now what they are trying to implement are voltage controllers that allow you to take down the voltage a 100%  When I asked why in hell you would want that feature .. I didn't get a satisfactory answer. It's a gadget, marketing gimmick I guess. None the less, coming from PC power & cooling, that is going to be one high quality product for sure.

Seriously lousy photo .. sorry about that. This is a new model flash drive in development. It actually has a little LCD display that can be programmed. The new flash will be dual-channel based, speedy fast read/writes .. OCZ style of course.

Up and coming folks, including a 128 GB version, OCZs (well Samsungs) Solid State Drive. They might be introducing an even faster model soon, coming from another vendor. But guys, I've stated it so many times .. you are looking at the future right there. I heard that SSD prices will drop 30% this year already. So the momentum is gaining. It will still be a couple of years though before we can go mainstream with SDD, but the latest SSD drives already surpass 100-150 MB sec sequential read, writes and copies.

Awesome, right now I'm pushing OCZ real hard for a test-sample. We want to evangilize .. and spread the word. SSD is cool, fast, reliable. The more commonly accepted it becomes, the harder prices will go down.
