Computex 2008: Day 1 - the festivities begin

Gigabyte

When you enter the 4th floor in Nangang hall in the middle .. it's really pretty hard to not stumble into the stand from Gigabyte. A quick visit at their booth shows a lot of products they recently released.

Here we see a nice example how stuff is done nice, the GeForce 9600 GT with multi-core cooling, extremely nice marketing phrase, yet it's heatpipe based cooling with thermal dissipation at several spots on the card. Good stuff to see for sure.

This one can easily become one of the more popular Gigabyte mainboards. Roughly 140 EUR will this EP35-DQ6 mainboard cost. Obviously Intel P45 based, yet passively cooled and it comes with DES technology as well (power saving features). Quite nice for Crossfire as you'll get 2 x16 PCI express slots.

What I personally found to be rather interesting was this Barebone HTPC. It will be called the MEC II and is the basis for AMD K8 Griffin platform processors, supports DDR2 and has integrated VGA. All in all it shouldn't be real expensive, and the fun part is that the video subsection is AMD based and can decode 1080P high-def content easily. A pretty cheap to achieve barebone is what this will become, and it even looks nice.
