Compro IP70

Compro IP70 SOHO Megapixel Security Camera

Security is a hot topic on many levels these days. We want eyes and ears everywhere. So whether you need your building secured, your office monitored for theft or need some camera protecting at home with in the far end of the scope ... monitor your baby remotely to see if the person taking care of him/her is doing the job adequately, there are solutions out there.

Problem is, the security industry and the products that go along with is are one huge maze and mess of  products, each following  their own standard, their own software compatibility and each with its own price tag and quality.

Especially video camera's or as you learned to know them, CCTV camera's have become a big industry. Just open up eBay and search CCTV security camera, you'll have no idea what's coming at you. Most of the stuff is cheap originating from China. Personally my office is secured with a couple of camera's on the outside, night vision and everything. However the quality of the camera's remains average.

The next big thing for this industry is making a move from SD to HD, that means Megapixel  resolution camera's. Do that search on eBay again and be shocked how little there is available and how extraordinary the prices are once you do find them.

But we guarantee you, security camera's will all go come with Megapixel sensors in the years to come as component prices and the technology allow for it. Current SD quality just does not cut it anymore in this day an age.

One of the company's jumping onto that trend is Compro, in the past their focus was TV/Media capture products yet as the market shifted, so did their product offering. They are trying to get a foothold in the security camera industry, however for a part target consumers.

Recently they release a the IP70, it's a security camera that really looks like a big webcam. The difference is that this is a Megapixel camera that offers much better quality then what you are use to. It's also an IP camera, meaning that you simply hook it into your network, lookup the IP of the camera access it and voilla, you'll have a fully functional camera in your browser.

With an aim at the consumer, the product could be used for generic house security, soho functionality in big brother terms or heck even use it as a monitoring device that can monitor your pets (always wondered if the dog access your fridge ;)

It's funky stuff, it has motion detection, sound and everything you really need to get a simple layer of security added. Have a peek at the product and then we'll head onwards into the review.
