The Verdict.
The
BQT P6-Pro-600W is an outstanding power supply. We have been using it on one of our test systems for quite a while now and fired off a lot more products at it then the test in this review mentions. Right now the Dark power Pro is seated into a High-end NFORCE590 SLI system based on a X6800 Conroe Core 2 Extreme processor accompanied by two GeForce 7900 512MB GTX graphics cards. Last week however we also tested the product with two GeForce 7950 GX2 cards in Quad SLI mode and yes .. that worked fine and stable also.
So for good quality performance wise the Dark Power Pro 600 Watts absolutely does it's job well.
Throughout our tests we were only able to measure really tiny fluctuations, with the PSU not being bothered at all. You know, there's a very simple trick to monitor if your PSU is having a hard time dealing with the load. The cooling fan is monitoring heat in the PSU, it'll spin faster when temperature (and thus load) builds.
The Dark power Pro however did everything we fired off at it with absolutely no bother at all.
So there's really nothing negative to say here. This is a great product.
We absolutely have to mention the noise levels that eminate from the PSU as we could hardly measure any noise at all and we are talking about a high-end PSU here. So there's another option you can think about, HTPC's require silence. The passive cooled PSU all have one problem .. they can't get rid of heat inside the system. The Dark power Pro however can whilst remaining being barely audible.
At 135 USD the BQT P6-Pro-600W is not the cheapest PSU available, yet for that money you receive a good quality PSU with modular sleeved cables, a high performance output and a very safe and protected environment wrapped up in a very silent package.
Please do not hesitate on buying this PSU as everything about it is fantastic, right up-to the detailed and photo rich manual. Oh and hey .. you receive a three year warranty also. You know what .. just go get it, it's really good!
