Arctic Cooling Silentium T3 ECO 80 review

Arctic Cooling Silentium T3

In the upper rear compartment of the chassis we stumble into the two exhaust fans. These are in fact Arctic Fan 3 and hideously silent. They max out at 1900rpm max, 28CFM (48 cubic meters per hour at maximum speed), very nice. They have been mounted on rubber struts preventing them to resonate.

HDD Muffler - The one thing that is very different to see is the option to install one HDD in a HDD muffler. The HDD drives are positioned into the area with a layer of foam above and below each. A Velcro strap and plastic bracket holds each HDD device in place in addition to four screws which attach to a  large metal heatsink.

There are thermal pads (included) between the drives and heatsink to assist with heat transfer. It's very weird, but works pretty decent. The advantage here is that is silences the hard drive noise and at the same time keeps it cool. The suspended frame stops vibrations.
