Anno 1404 VGA graphics card performance review

Anno 1404 graphics cards performance results (2)

Gaming at 1920x1080 or in this case 1920x1200 in the enthusiast segment, this is a very popular resolution.

Best bang for buck however would roughly a Radeon HD 4890 and for NVIDIA a GeForce GTX 275 would make a really fine choice here. Both offer framerates above 40 FPS, which for the money are a great deal as these cards can be purchased for roughly 225 USD these days.

At a monitor resolution of 2560x1600 the benchmarks will show you that you are severely screwed if you do not have an uber-high-end-motha-beast of a card:)

A GeForce GTX 285 would be my minimum recommendation, that or a pre-overclocked Radeon HD 4890 at say 950 MHz. And as you can see, there are two cards really showing off ... the Radeon HD 4870 X2 and singing out loud and proud is the GeForce GTX 295. yes we just entered the 400-500 USD arena.

Now remember, you could also opt to lower AA settings to 2xAA or even disable it. The settings we use are however recommended for a nice image quality. And well ..  4xAA with high quality textures and object we think is standard anno 2009.

I hope you guys enjoyed this little article. If you like the genre, definitely check the game out. Be warned though, reserve heaps and heaps of time because once you get your cities to grow ... you'll loose track of time !

Enjoy,

-- Hilbert
