 AMD Phenom X4 945 and 955BE processor review|test

Our overclocking results:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition OC

Right, since this is a BE edition we can easily overclock the processor.

In AMD overdrive you can simply max out the CPU voltage towards 1.50V and increase the multiplier. Play around with it, don't be afraid of a crash.

Here's what we did though. With a simple OCZ Vendetta 2 35 USD air-cooler we reached 3800 MHz 100% stable. If you use a decent cooler or even better, water-cooling .. 3800-4000 MHz should not be an issue. These are very common tweak frequencies for AMD Phenom II processors.

Though I admittedly on air we overclocked a little higher than with previous Phenom II processors.

AMD Phenom II X4 955BE and 945

So here we have an overview of the processors clocked at 3800 MHz. You'll agree with me that this is a very extensive overclock based on an air CPU cooler. You can click on the image to get a big screenshots btw.

This is the performance control screen where you can see all primary variables and adjust them. Everything can be adjusted on the fly. This is the performance control screen showing the tweakable variables. This was the stage where we tested the processor at 3800 MHz.

We have ACC enabled. We simply increased voltage towards 1.3750V, and increased the CPU multiplier to 19. You hit apply .. and that was all we needed to do. Be sure to check out the CPU temperatures in the screenshot.
