The ECS A785GM-M motherboard

So Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) shipped in their Micro ATX Black Series motherboard, ECS A785GM-M. An 80 to 90 USD motherboard armed with the AMD 785G and SB710 chipset, the ECS A785GM-M motherboard supports the latest 45nm AMD Phenom II processors and sure, will also support dual channel DDR3 1333MHz memory (even 1600 MHz overclocked). As we just explained, integrated in the 785G series is an ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics core. A good thing to mention is, it's fully Microsoft Windows 7 ready, is DirectX 10.1 compatible and actually leads to three output connectors; D-SUB (VGA), DVI and HDMI connectors can be found on this mATX motherboard.

  • Supports 140W AMD Phenom II processors (45nm)
  • Full Solid Capacitors
  • 4 DIMM DDR3 1333 MHz
  • Radeon HD4200 Graphics
  • DirectX 10.1
  • HDMI + DVI + VGA
  • (2) 1394 ports
  • (6) SATA2 ports
  • (2) eSATA port
  • Onboard Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons
  • Debug LED
  • eJiffy – Instant-On OS to quickly access the web, photos and online chat.
  • First Micro ATX Black Series motherboard

What's fun to know is that the motherboard is cooled completely passively and thus makes no noise whatsoever. It comes with a five phase power design supporting the more high-end Socket AM3 Phenom II processors with a 140W TDP. The rest of its connectivity includes FireWire, eSATA (Raid 0,1 and 10 compatible), optical and analog digital sound outputs and one Gigabit Ethernet interface.

Since this is a Black Series Motherboard you get to have some extras. The Black Series motherboards always show off a little more, and as such we see a nice I/O rear panel with lots of connections, ECS M.I.B. II overclocking.

According to ECS, the Black Series ECS A785GM-M is the perfect digital home entertainment solution. But let's check it out closeup.
