 Alphacool Cool Answer III review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by  | Published: August 2, 2006

The Verdict

Well first off I'd like to thank Alphacool for allowing us to review their products. I am very much impressed by the German company and that's not based on this product. They offer a website written in both German, French and English. I checked some e-tailers and they are distributing their products throughout Europe. The products range from standalone components towards complete system builds with water-cooing active or passive and not only that... they manage to do that on a price level that is competing very well with other products in this segment.

Back to the Alphacool Cool Answer III 120 Compact 12V. I can be brief about it. It's not an uber high-end water cooling solution that that will knock out temperatures on sight. Instead it offers really satisfactory cooling which is beyond the level of traditional heatsink/air cooling. The Alphacool Cool Answer III 120 Compact 12V is a great product for several reasons. First in line is it's price, it's positioned on the market at 159 EUR and that's including everything from the brackets, the unit itself, thermal paste, pre-filled with coolant .. everything. At this price you are making water-cooling a more mainstream solution.

The second reason this unit is so attractive is it's ease of use for installation. I mean, if you are a little handy you can have this water-cooling setup running in 15 minutes time.

For me personally it is always about one thing though ... sound. Noise volume, high irritating pitch sounds and that's the big winner here because despite that big 120mm fan spinning at a low 1300 RPM it manages to cool down a dual-core AMD64 Athlon 4400+ processor very sufficiently with no audible sound whatsoever. I mean this thing is silent .. really really silent. And that makes me state that I am vastly impressed with what AlphaCool managed to produce here. They have collected the right components and merged them together in an easy to install solution.

So if you are in the market for good cooling but also need a silent solution then I would highly recommend you to give the guys at Alpacool a visit. It's well worth the 159 EUR and if you are an audiophile when it comes to silence then I would highly recommend to you this Alphacool Cool Answer III 120 Compact 12V water-cooling solution.

Two big thumbs up, go have a look at their website.

Small sidenote: Somewhere in the upcoming weeks we'll review another product from Alpahacool - a passively cooled PC case that literally will astound you. Check back in regularly for more information.
